KİRÂMEN KÂTİBİN
Rakib & Atid: equality and rebellion in the Givenchy Couture creation.
The two creations “Rakib” and “Atid” are not just fashion - they are a revolutionary act inspired by the Givenchy logo, Audrey Hepburn, yin-yang philosophy, rebellion and the angels of İslam.

Yasemin Akgül: Kiramen Katibin: Rakîb & Atîd: Equality and Rebellion in the Givenchy Creation. I had the privilege of having my Givenchy dress prominently showcased as the cover piece for the "Past Intelligence" exhibition. This prestigious event explored the powerful connection between fashion, history, and contemporary design. Being part of this exhibition was a significant moment in my career, highlighting the lasting influence of iconic fashion on modern creative expression. https://www.smb.museum/ausstellungen/detail/past-intelligence/

"Human" – A Fashion Collection Against Social InequalityFashion has the power to speak, challenge, and inspire. My haute couture collection, “Human – A Fashion Collection Against Social Inequality,” presented at Milan Fashion Week S/S26, embodies this belief. As a Berlin-based designer, my vision was to merge Baroque opulence with sharp social commentary — transforming the runway into a narrative of resilience, dignity, and reflection. The show was produced and organized by Kasia Stefanow under her production brand MyStyle-Events Satisfashion, a fashion and event management company producing fashion shows internationally. This showcase became a powerful platform to present a collection that fuses luxury with social consciousness, transforming the runway into a striking narrative of strength, awareness, and dialogue.“Human” unfolds from minimalist white silhouettes into voluminous, luxurious garments — a symbolic journey from poverty to privilege. Through this visual transformation, the collection highlights the widening disparities in modern society, revealing how wealth and power shape our world while questioning the invisible structures of inequality.Crafted from chiffon silk, satin, velvet, faux leather, lace, and brocade, the garments are adorned with intricate embroidery, Swarovski crystals, pearls, and hand-painted fabrics. These materials embrace grandeur and elegance while carrying a deeper message: fashion can be both beautiful and meaningful — a platform for dialogue rather than mere ornamentation. Golden Baroque ornaments on dresses, asymmetrical blazers, bags, and earrings create striking accents, giving the collection a sculptural, luxurious presence.A central artistic collaboration within Human was developed with my brother, Ümit Kamil Akgül, a graphic designer, illustrator, and visual artist. His hand-painted fabrics turned several garments into unique works of wearable art, merging fashion with visual storytelling. As a designer who graduated in 2025, Human also represents my personal manifesto — reflecting my commitment to slow fashion, sustainability, and conscious design. This collection is not merely about clothing; it is about resilience, rebellion, and humanity expressed through texture, silhouette, and form.Through Human, I aim to show that fashion can do more than clothe — it can question, provoke, and inspire change. Every opportunity to share this vision, whether on the runway or through international publications, brings me closer to making meaningful fashion both accessible and impactful.
