YASEMIN AKGÜL COUTURE
YASEMIN AKGÜL COUTURE is the independent couture label of Berlin-based designer Yasemin Akgül.
Yasemin Akgül grew up surrounded by tailoring. Craftsmanship is part of her family and has been part of her life since childhood. Fabrics, patterns and working with her hands were never unfamiliar to her, but part of her life from the very beginning. From this family heritage, she developed her own path in fashion.
In 2018, she completed her training as a fashion tailor at Mediencollege Berlin. Building on this foundation, she further developed her skills in Hair & Make-up Artistry, Multimedia Management and Fine Arts & Design. At the same time, she gained practical experience in the professional fashion environment, including working for Berlin Salon, Vogue Germany and on official runway shows of Berlin Fashion Week.
During her subsequent Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design at Atelier Chardon Savard / Macromedia Berlin, she developed traditional tailoring into her own creative language. In 2024, she presented her work at Neo.Fashion as part of Berlin Fashion Week, including Kirâmen Kâtibîn – Rakîb & Atîd: Equality and Rebellion in Givenchy’s Creation and Femme Vie Liberté in the Design Showroom.
Kirâmen Kâtibîn – Rakîb & Atîd: Equality and Rebellion in Givenchy’s Creation was created as a couture work exploring equality, identity and resistance. The project was selected for the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and presented at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin.
In 2025, Yasemin Akgül completed her Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design. Since then, she has continued developing YASEMIN AKGÜL COUTURE as an independent designer, presenting her own couture collections at Berlin Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. She also regularly works on fashion, beauty and styling projects as part of the Berlinale.
Her designs and couture creations have been featured internationally across leading fashion, lifestyle and culture publications, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, Glamour, Gala, KALTBLUT Magazine, Hollywood Magazine, among others.
Her couture is created slowly and by hand. A single dress can require up to a month of work. Research, construction, material development and craftsmanship are an integral part of her design process.
In her work, Yasemin Akgül combines the tailoring craftsmanship she grew up with with a strong social perspective, personal identity and contemporary couture. Her fashion explores humanity, freedom, equality, cultural diversity and social issues.
